Planete insolite is a French association, based in Arles (Provence) since September 2004,  whose aim is to support environmental projects in the destination countries in partnership with the local populations

The concept of "Tourisme éco-solidaire", created by planete insolite, involves using our own methodes to organize holiday trips to selected destinations where 9 percent if the price paid by the visitors goes towards financing local environment projects.

This enable the local populations to benefit from local tourism (an important coutributing factor to long-term development) and from environmental initiatives supporting local interests.

1/ Creating an itinerary

  • The destination is selected according to its potential and prospects both for the local population and for visitors

  • appropriate type of accomodation, transport and trip modalities (circuit, trekking…) are investigated

  • a transparent estimated budget is worked out individually for each destination.

  • Safety conditions and practical issues are tested on site to ensure feasibility of planned itinerary

  • The project is submitted to the approval of the local authorities and populations

  • A long term environment and development-focused project is chosen through concerted deliberation

  • Approprate modalities for the management of help funds are investigated (micro credit, equipment, resources…)

  • A permanent local partner is chosen (natural reserve, local association)

  • The action of Planete Insolite is presented using a variety of supports (website, conferences…).

  • Transparence as for use of the paid price.
